heat flow of energy due to temperature differences
thermal energy the total random kinetic energy of particles in an object
calorie the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by one degree C
joule standard unit of energy
specific heat the heat required to raise the temperature of one gram of a substance one degree centigrade
conduction the transfer of heat within a material or between materials that are touching
conductor a material that easily allows the flow of electricity
