Metaphor | A comparison between tow dissimilar things, in which one thing is spoken f as though it were something else (doesn't use "like" or "as") |
Extended Metaphor | A metaphor that continues throughout a poem |
Figurative Language | Writing or speech not intended to be taken literally |
Connotation | The emotional ideas associated with a word; more than its explicit meaning |
Denotation | The dictionary meaning of the word, independent of of emotional associations |
