Day A period of 24 hours beginning at midnight; created by the Earth rotating on its axis. Year The period of 365 1/4 days required for the Earth to make on complete revolution around the sun. Hydrosphere the watery areas of the earth, including oceans, lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water. (3/4 of Earth covered in water) Lithosphere the outermost, rigid layer of the Earth that consists of the crust and the rigid upper part of the mantle
