Acculturation when the cultural traits of a group or individual, change as a result of contact with a different culture; cultural change. Hint: an immigrant moving and learning a new culture
Assimilation the acceptance, or adoption by one social/cultural group of traits usually associated with another group.
Culture socially transmitted behavior patterns, beliefs, institutions, values, language, arts, materials, etc. that are the products of human work and thought.
Cultural Diffusion the process of spreading culture from one point of origin.
Culture Shock confusion and anxiety affecting a person who is suddenly exposed to a foreign or alien culture.
Ethnicity having a certain physical, mental, or cultural characteristics in common with others of the same group.
Ethnocentrism the concept that the attitudes, beliefs, and customs of one's own group most important, and a basis for judging all other groups: feeling of superiority over other groups.
Genocide the planned extermination of a particular group of people; usually based on race, ethnicity, or nationality.
Race a distinct human population with a comman origin. (black, white, asian)
Racism extreme prejudice and discrimination based on race; prejudice (attitude)+(actions)=(power)+discrimination=racism
Stereotype generalizing, and attributing certain traits to an entire group of people; usually based on myths.
Xenophobia extreme fear of anything foreign, especially people; extreme culture shock.
