Giza

It was made of more than 2 million stone blocks, perfectly fitted together. Inside, tunnels led to several burial chambers. The king's chamber had six roofs to hold up the weight of the stone layers above it.

White Chapel

Senusret's finest architectural achievement. (a small temple.) It was made of alabaster, a hard white stone. Some historians think that the chapel was originally covered in a thin layer of gold. Senusret wanted his memory to live within the monument

Dayr al-Bahri

A temple that Hatshepsut left behind to her reign. The main part of the temple was built into a cliff above the Nile River. At the entrance were two tall, thin monuments called obelisks. The entrance was also had 200 sphinx(half lion half man) statues. Scenes from Hatshepsut's reign decorated the temple walls. Detailed carvings portrayed the great voyage to Punt. The carvings showed the valuable things that the pharaoh's traders had brought back to Egypt.

Abu Simbel

Ramses built this monument to honor his wife, it was near the Nile River and it had four giant statues of Ramses that were seated around the entrance. People had to pass through three big halls to get to the main room. The altar had statues of Ramses and three Egyptian gods. Twice a month the sunlight would shine in the halls and light up the statues.

Khufu

He ruled from about 2551 to 2528 B.C.E. some say he was cruel others say he was just strict. He and other pharaohs had a pyramid built for their tomb. He also helped teach that pharaohs were an authority. He has 9 sons and 15 daughters. One of his daughters later becomes a pharaoh/queen.

Senusret

the king of Ancient Egypt in the Middle Kingdom/ Reunification Period. He ruled from about 1971 to 1926 B.C.E. He was called the Patron of Arts and oversaw many architectural, art and literature achievements. He was king then he overheard somebody's plan to kill him so he ran from home then eventually came back. He ruled a stable and peaceful country

Hatshepsut

She was the first woman to be a pharaoh and ruled between
1473 to 1458 B.C.E. She demanded to have as much respect as a man. Also she sometimes wore a fake beard. She promoted trade over the red sea.

Ramses

This pharaoh ruled from 1290 to 1224 B.C.E.(New Kingdom) He was called _ the Great, he is one of the most famous pharaohs. He ruled for more than 60 years. He is known for his military leadership and for building lots monuments.
He had over 100 wives, and more than 100 children. He knew he was important and never modest, he had hundreds of statues of himself built throughout Egypt. Some of them were over 60 feet high.
