Phenotype

The observable characteristics of an organism. Normally depends on the organism's genotype and environment.

Genotype

The combination of alleles an organism has.

Allele

A version of a gene.

Co-Dominance

Two different alleles that are both fully expressed in the phenotype.

Incomplete Dominance

Two different alleles that are each partially expresed in the phenotype, creating a blending effect.

Dominant

An allele that is always observed in the phenotype.

Recessive

An allele that is only observed in the phenotype if no dominant allele is present.

Polygenes

Many genes all influencing a characteristic (like height or skin color).

Multiple Alleles

A single gene that has more than two possible alleles.
