| first person point of view | The point of view when the narrator is one of the main characters. |
| third person point of view | The point of view when the narrator is not a character in the text. |

| mood | the emotion of the work, created with words by the author |
| symbolism | something that represents something else |
| theme | the overall message or lesson conveyed by the author |

| cliffhanger | an abrupt ending of a chapter, novel, movie, or play where the character is left in a difficult situation and the reader is on the edge of her seat |
