FAQ: What is Facebook Connect and how does it work?

Facebook Connect is a new feature from Facebook that lets external websites such as Quizlet use Facebook’s login system. Instead of creating a Quizlet account by entering your email address and password, you can just click on “Connect with Facebook” and everything is done automatically.

When you Connect with Facebook on Quizlet for the first time, you are automatically given a Quizlet account that has all the same features as a regular account. It even has some additional features:

• When you create a set, you can optionally post it to your Facebook mini-feed so that your friends can see your new set.
• You can see which of your Facebook friends use Quizlet, even the ones who are online now.

Facebook Connect is a secure login mechanism. Quizlet never even sees the username and password you enter. You can verify this yourself by looking at the URL of the popup where you enter your Facebook information; you will see that you are on connect.facebook.com, not quizlet.com.
