From the beginning, Quizlet has been built by students for students. Andrew Sutherland first created the site 7 years ago to help him study for a high school French class and the trend continues this summer with our intern class, which includes 3 high school students who have been using Quizlet for years.
We'd like to highlight these three new members of the Quizlet team.
Stephen - Freshman in College
Quizlet username - Chromedude - member since May 2009
Stephen first joined the Quizlet staff in San Francisco for spring break this year and has been working with us ever since.
He's flagged and fixed a bunch of issues on Quizlet that now improve the site for millions of students.
Max - Senior in High School
Quizlet username - Haub123 - member since March 2008
His 11th grade class, PC Beasts, has had the same Quizlet group since 8th grade. It now has 239 members.
Students add sets from all classes from English to French to History and then everyone can use them to study. The group was created and organized by the students at his school entirely on their own.
Max's personal experience with Groups helped inform our debate about how to improve organization within Groups on Quizlet. Better yet, Max has already fixed a few user experience issues on Quizlet that only come up when you have a huge number of friends on Quizlet (as Max does).
Jake - Freshman in High School
Quizlet username - Batman424 - member since January 2011
Jake first came to our attention after building an iPhone app, Quiz Me!, that lets you study Quizlet content on the go. He was in 8th grade.
We asked Stephen to take a look at the app and tell us what he thought of it as a long-term Quizlet user:
When we were looking for iOS developers to work on a Quizlet mobile app this summer, Jake was at the top of our list.
Jake is now working alongside the rest of the team to build Quizlet's new iPhone app that will be available this fall.
For Students by Students
Between Jake, Max, Stephen and our two college interns, Jeff and Wylie, we've got a great intern team that's technically talented and gives us insights into what our users really need. We're excited to launch a host of new features on Quizlet this summer. Stay tuned!
