- Asoka: One of the greatest Indian rulers of the Maurya Dynasty. He turned his back on conquests and became a Buddhist. During his reign, India enjoyed peace and prosperity. He united a diverse people, built hospitals and Buddhist shrines as well as roads and rest houses for travelers.

- Hatshepsut: The first great queen of Egypt. She paid attention to peaceful pursuits during the new kingdom
- Hittites: They settled in the rugged highlands of Anatolia. They were the first people to extract iron from ore.
- Howard Carter: The brittish archaeologist who discovered the tomb of king Tutankhamen in 1922
- Isis: This goddess had special appeal for women. She taught women to spin flax, weave cloth, grind grain and to care for children
- Mahavira: He established Jainism c.500. He emphasized meditation, self-denial and non-violence to all living things.
- Nebuchadnezzar: The Babylonian king who destroyed the temple in Jerusalem. He buillt a terraced garden for his wife.
- Nefertiti: The wife of the Egyptian ruler who tried to impose monotheism in Egypt

- Siddhartha Gautama: He was born into a high caste family and lived a life of luxury. After becoming aware of human sufferering, he left his family. He wandered throughout India for years. He studied, fasted, and meditated. He is credited with being the founder of one of the world's great religions that spread to all parts of southeast Asia and north Korea and Japan
