- Biodegradable: Capable of being decomposed naturally
- Cell: A small compartment
- Composting: A mixture of decaying organic matter, as from leaves and manure, used to improve soil structure and provide nutrients
- Containers and Packaging: Store items; life expectancy varies
- Corrosive: Having the tendency to erode or eat away
- Durable Goods: Any item that has a life expectancy of more than 3 years
- How to build a landfill: Dig a hole in the ground then put trash in it and cover it with soil. The bottom of the hole should be lined with strong plastic and 5 ft of clay. There should be a leachate pipe going to a sewage treatment center and a methane pipe to burn methane or use it for energy.
- Leachate: Rainwater falling on a dump dissolved chemicals from the wastes, forming a polluted liquid
- Non-Durable Goods: Any item that has a life expectancy of 3 years or less
- Recycle: To turn trash into something else
- Reduce: Throw away less
- Rethink: Think about if you can reuse or recycle something
- Reuse: Use something again instead of throwing it away
- Sanitary Landfill: Disposal sites for non-hazardous soild waste that is spread in layers and compacted to the smallest practical volume with leachate and methane collection
- Toxic: Poisonous
