- ---------------: People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportuntiy to return.
- 11-12: By faith Abraham, even though he was past age - and Sarah herself was barren - was enabled to become a father beacause he considered him faitheful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
- 13-15: All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not recieve the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.
- 32,33: Whoever ackowledges me before men, I will aslo acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.
- 34,35,36: Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn "a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daugher-in-law against her mother-in-law- a man's enemies will be the members of his own houseshold."
- 37: Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me/
- 38: and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Matthew10:30-38: And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't you be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
