Asoka One of the greatest Indian rulers of the Maurya Dynasty. He turned his back on conquests and became a Buddhist. During his reign, India enjoyed peace and prosperity. He united a diverse people, built hospitals and Buddhist shrines as well as roads and rest houses for travelers.
