Description

A set of rules for reading Thai with the correct tones. Developed by Dr. Jenjit Gasigijtamrong, Ed.D

Key:

Mid/Low/High = Class of Initial Consonant

Long/Short = Vowel

Live/Dead = Final Consonant

All Thai words are made up of three elements:

- An initial consonant which is one of three classes (mid class, low class, or high class)

- A long or short vowel

- A live final consonant, a dead final consonant, or no final consonant

These elements determine the tone with which that word is spoken.
