Many important Italian verbs are irregular: they do no follow the regular pattern of conjugation (infinitive stem + endings). They may have different stem or different endings. You have already learned two irregular Italian verbs: avere and essere. There are only four irregular verbs in the first conjugation (that is, -are verbs).
If "andare" is followed by another verb (to go dancing, to go eat), the sequence "andare+a+infinitive" is used. Andare is conjugated, but the second verb is used in the infinitive. Not that is is necessary to use "a" even if the infinitive is seperated from the form of "andare".
esempio: Quando andiamo a sciare? (When are we going skiing?), Chi va in Italia a studiare? (Who's going to Italy to study?)
Fare expresses the actions of doing or making, as in fare glu esercizi and dare il letto (to make the bed), but it is also used in many idioms and weather (il tempo) expressions. esempio: fare colazione (to have breakfast), fare una domanda (to ask a question), fare una fotografia (to take a picture), Che tempo fa? (How's the weather/What's the weather like?)
Fa bello(brutto) (It's nice (bad) weather), Fa caldo (freddo) (It's hot [cold]), Fa fresco (It's cool.)
