Planning of temperature |
check to be certain there are probe covers. Check low batter. |

Implementation of temperature |
remove probe from unit, push it down into cover until a slight click is heard. Place probe under toungue in side sublingual pocket. Ask patient to close the lips and keep them closed. Hold the unit steady, or allow the patient to hold it, and read the temperature on the screen when the light stops flashing or the unit beeps. Remove probe from mouth, and discard the probe cover into garbage. Note temperature on hard, clear the register by returning the probe to its holder. |

record time & temp on graphic sheet. Record measure taken if the temperature was elevated in the nureses notes. |
