Term Definition
plot The series of related events that make up a story.
basic situation Explains who the characters are and what their MAJOR conflict is.
conflict A struggle or clash between opposing forces or opposing characters.
internal conflict A conflict which takes place within a characters mind. It usually is a struggle with opposing needs, wants, or emotions within a character.
external conflict A character who struggles against some outside force which may be another character or society such a storm or a grizzly bear..
foreshadow The use of clues to suggust what will happen later in the story.
complications Events that make it hard for the character to get what he or she wants.
climax The most emotional or suspenseful moment in a story, when the outcome is decided one way or another.
resolution The part of the story when characters' problems are solved and the story ends.
