Buddhism Major Leader- Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha; Beliefs- to escape the suffering caused by worldly desires, you must follow the Eightfold Path (rules that lead to a life of morality, wisdom and good thought) By following this, one can acheive a state of bliss, or nirvana
Christianity Major Leader- Jesus Christ; Beliefs- Jesus, son of God, was sent to Earth and died on the cross to save humanity. By having faith in Jesus and through God's grace, believers are saved from God's penalty for sin and receive eternal life with God
Hinduism Major Leader- Unknown; Beliefs- Reincarnation, after death, the soul is reborn in another person, animal, or vegetable. Where a soul is reborn depends upon a person's karma (spiritual force resulting from the actions of past lives) Three main gods- Brahma, Vishnu and Siva
Islam Major Leader- Muhammad; Beliefs- Muslims believe in the God, Allah, and follow the teachings of the Quran, which the prophet Muhammad said were revealed to him by Allah. By following the five pillars of faith- belief, prayer, charity, fasting and pilgrimage- believers go to eternal paradise
Judaism Major Leader- Abraham; Beliefs- Jews believe in the God, Yahweh. By following God's laws, Jews believe that they will have peace with God and with each other. The main laws and practices of Judaism are contained in the Torah, the first five books of the Hebrew Bible

Globalization is taking place in our world. This means that more and more of the world's nations are becoming linked by trade. Cheap labor is driving globalization. More people, money, and goods than ever are crossing national borders. Technology is also shrinking the world. For example, the internet, a relatively new form of technology, is shrinking the world as people communicate with countries never possible before the introduction of email and internet chatrooms. In what ways is the world shrinking?
Gas- nonrenewable, Soil- renewable, Sun- renewable, Coal- nonrenewable, Wind- renewable Give five examples of resources and indicate if they are renewable or non-renewable.
Traditional Economy economic decisions are based on customs handed down from generation to generation. Examples- Your grand-parents and parents all farm for a living, meaning you will farm for a living.You will probably use the same farming tools
Command Economy the government makes all economic decisions. Individuals have little or no say about what goods to produce or services to produce, or even how to produce them. Communism applies to command economy. the government will also control how much something may cost and which people will receive particular training for a job.
Market Economy individuals make their own decisions on what to produce, how to produce it and for whom to produce it. people and businesses make what they think customers will want.(supply) consumers have choices on what to buy. (demand) prices are determined by this. Example- a business may start fishing and selling fish because they feel that people are demanding fish more than they used to.
The difference between these two types of farming is that commercial farming, instead of growing only the amount of crop you need for your own family like subsistence farming, is actually growing crops for the opposite reason. The crops grown in commerical farming are for sale in markets, as opposed to the food in subsistence farming that is grown for only a family's needs. What is the difference between subsistence farming and commercial farming?
Countries specialize, or focus on the economic activities best suited to their resources. For example, Brazil has the right soil and climate for growing coffee beans, making Brazil the Number One coffee bean producer than any other country. How do countries respond to unequal distribution of resources?
