Position of labor and delivery
Presenting part of the mothers Pelvis- LOA: back of babys head is anterior to the pelvis and tilted to the left side. ROA: Back of baby's head is anterior and tilted to right side. OA: back of baby's head is directly to the front of the mothers pelvis.
Fetal Lie of labor and delivery
Uses Leopold's maneuver to determine where the baby's position is to the pelvis

Stage 1: 0-10 centimeters of dilation of cervix, Stage 2: complete dilation, Stage 3: delivery of baby and placenta, Stage 4: delivery of placenta until complete recovery.

Turn on left side to help increase blood supply to the kidneys, do not give Coumadin
Preeclampsia
Abnormal high blood pressure in pregnancy- 140/90, facial edema, proteinura
Ectopic Pregnancy
Any pregnancy that occurs outside the body of the uterus- mostly in fallopian tube.
Hydratidiform Mole
What results in grapelike swelling of chronic villi & trophoblastic hyperplasia from errors in chromosomal duplication occuring during fertilization- chorionic carcinoma- do not get pregnant for at least a year after evacuation of mole.
Incompetent Cervix
(obstetrics) uterine cervix that becomes dilated before term and without labor often resulting in miscarriage or premature birth
Placenta Previa
pregnancy in which the placenta is implanted in the lower part of the uterus (instead of the upper part)
Abruptio Placenta
premature separation of the normally implanted placenta away from the uterine wall.
Premature Labor
before 37 weeks gestation

Umbilical cord presents first during delivery and is seen within the cervix.
