Nervous system
Made up of brain, spinal cord and nerves. Coordinates and controls body's response to external stimuli by generating and conducting nerve impulses.
Reproductive system
Organ system for sexual reproduction. Produces gametes(sperm and egg). In female also allows for internal fertilisation and development of the embryo/foetus.
Digestive system
Oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, and other associated organs. For the digestion and absorption of nutrients and water.
Excretory system
Main organs are kidneys and bladder. Removes urea from blood and produces urine to pass out of body.
Musculo-skeletal system
Comprises bones and skeletal muscle. For movement, support and protection of vital organs.
Circulatory system
Heart, blood vessels and blood. Transports blood around the body to deliver oxygen and nutrients to cells and remove waste products.
Respiratory system
Trachea, bronchi, lungs and alveoli. System for gas exchange i.e. taking oxygen into the blood and removing carbon dioxide.
