Noblemen owed military service and loyalty to their lord. They guided and protected their vassals. Noblewomen owed loyalty and obedience to their husbands, but performed some of the lord's duties if he was absent. They provided day-to-day management of the household and were expected to bear children.
How did the manor serve the needs of the early Middle Age?
It provided safety and security for peasants and wealth and prestige of their lords. Since manors were self-sufficient, it did not matter that trade was limited.

Helped improve economy by developing better agricultural methods. Provided basic health and educational services.
How did the Church increase its secular power and how did riches and power lead the church into abuses than reforms?
The Popes claimed authority over secular rulers including kings and emperors. Bishops were usually nobles. Most monasteries controlled a lot of land. Churchmen were usually very well educated. Riches and power lead to Church abuses and then to reforms because some nuns and monks started ignoring their vows of poverty. In the early 900s however, Abbot Berno revived the Benedictine rule of obedience, poverty, and chastity.
Why did attitudes toward Jews change in medieval Europe?
In the late 1000s, Western Europe started to become more Christianized. Christians often blamed Jews on illness or famines. They started persecuting Jews which is when the Jews moved to Eastern Europe, who were much more accepting of them.
What were two effects of the agricultural revolution that took place during the middle Ages?

The emergence of a middle class affected European life. Merchants, traders, and artisans formed this middle class. Nobles and clergy despised this social class. Merchants and artisans formed guilds. They passed laws and levied taxes. They also decided how to spend funds for town improvements.
What were the advantages and disadvantages of living in a medieval city?
The advantages were that living in a Medieval community you would have more protection and more goods. The downside is that you might also suffer more disease and crowded conditions.
