Active cell
The location of the worksheet insertion point where you are currently working (EX 4).
Active cell reference
The cell address for the active cell (EX 6).
Cell
The intersection of a column and row (EX 6).
Cell address
A unique reference for a cell which is made up of the column letter and row number(EX 6).
Column
Vertical and arranged alphabetically (EX 6).
Formula bar
Displays the contents of the active cell (EX 4).
Full Screen
A view that hides all the commands and provides a full view of just the worksheet (EX 18).
Label
Cells that contain text, such as an alphabetic character or non-mathematical symbols, as the first character (EX 12).
Left-aligned
On the left side of the cell (EX 12).
Name Box
The place where the name of the active cell appears (EX 4).
New Window
A copy of the worksheet (EX 19).
Office Button
Provides access to basic open, save, and print commands (EX 4).
Panes
Sections of the window (EX 20).
Quick Access Toolbar
Provides a set of commands independent of the tab you have open (EX 4).
Range
A group of cells in a row, column, or block (EX 16).
Ribbon
Is made up of tabs that group commands by function. Each of the tabs represents a core task you perform in Excel (EX 4).
Right-aligned
On the right side of the cell (EX 12).
Row
Horizontal and arranged by number (EX 6).
Scroll bar
Tool used to scroll, or move up and down or side to side within the worksheet (EX 8).
Sheet tab
The method used to identify the worksheet. They are located at the bottom of the workbook (EX 5).
Split screen
Multiple resizable panes to view all parts of a worksheet (EX 20).
Status bar
Provides workbook view buttons and the Zoom controls, and indicates if certain options are turned on or off (EX 5).
Title bar
Displays the name of the active workbook (EX 4).
Value
A number or date in a cell (EX 12).
Workbook
An Excel file (EX 5).
Worksheet
Separate documents within your workbook (EX 5).
