Yearly, or immediately after use.

Sufficient notice of amb. approach to allow others to yield the right-of-way. Drive safe, and don't expect that others will yield as supposed to.

When an extreme hazard exists. This may be supplemented by rotating or flashing red lights.
When are the FLASHING red warning lights indicated?
Only during extremely hazardous conditions, or any incident that requires traffic to stop or be directed.

When an unusual traffic hazard exists.

What is an electromechanical siren?

What is an electronic siren?
Consists of an oscillator, amplifier, and speaker.
What is a mechanical siren?
Consists of a stator and rotor driven by a mechanical connection to a moving part of the vehicle.
What are the three types of siren sounds that may be used?
Wail, Yelp, Hi-Lo
Describe the wail siren sound
Produces a slow, continuous automatic cycling of increasing and decreasing frequencies and sound levels
Describe the yelp siren sound
Produces a rapid, continuous automatic cycling of increasing and decreasing frequencies
Describe the Hi-Lo siren sound
Produces a non-siren sound which alternates between a fixed high and low frequency.
