Iliac crest
"hip bone" From anterior superior iliac spine to posterior superior iliac spine.
Anterior superior iliac spine
Anterior bump at end of iliac crest on anterior surface.
Greater trochanter of femur
Large boney prominence on lateral proximal thigh at hip joint.
Pubic symphysis
Anterior midline joint of pelvic girdle.
Medial epicondyle of femur
Distal enlargement on medial femur.
Lateral epicondyle of femur
Distal enlargement on lateral femur.
Patella
knee cap.
Head of fibula
Bump on superior end of fibula, inferior to lateral epicondyle of femur.
Tuberosity of tibia
Large bump on proximal anterior tibia, inferior to patella
Anterior shaft of tibia
"shin bone" Sharp margin below tibia tuberosity; can be palpated its entire length.
Medial malleolus
Medial "ankle bone"; distal end of tibia.
Lateral malleolus
Lateral "ankle bone"; distal pointed end of fibula.
Iliac crest
"hip bone" From anterior superior iliac spine to posterior superior iliac spine.
Posterior superior iliac spine
Boney prominence at end of iliac crest on posterior surface; lies just about the "dimple" or depression which is the landmark for the sacroiliac joint on the body surface
Sacrum
Curved triangular bone (five fused vertabrae) beneath lumbar spine.
Coccyx
Caudal tip of vertabral column, deep between the two buttocks.
Ischial tuberosity
Boney prominence that takes weight of body when seated upright.
Medial epicondyle of femur
Distal enlargement on medial femur
Lateral epicondyle of femur

Head of fibula
