Purpose of the factory acts
The purpose of the factory acts was to improve the work environment for specifically children. Children were working long hours, this act made is so children from ages 9-13 could work no more than 9 hours a day, and ages 13-18 work no more than 12 hours a day. Children could no longer work at night as well.
Why were railroads an improvement in transportation? Why were women the first factory workers?
Railroads were an improvement in transportation because it allowed products to be transported and traded and a faster rate. Women were the first factory workers because people thought that women could adapt more easily to working with machines, and were less likely to make mistakes. In addition, women were paid almost half less then men were.
