Overrides and controls the brightness of all panel lights and displays with a white dot in the twelve o'clock position of their individual brightness controls.
Full adjustment control is available for the master brightness control when the individual brightness controls are set to the center detent (white dot).
Limits the adjustment range of the individual brightness controls affected. Dome lights, Flood lights and Circuit Breaker panel lights are not controlled by the master brightness control.
Which flight deck lighting is available when normal electrical power is lost?
Standby electrical power is automatically provided to the primary displays. The aisle stand, left and right forward panel and glare shield flood lights, and the dome lights illuminate automatically at a fixed brightness.
Explain the ARMED position of the flight deck emergency lights switch:
All emergency lights illuminate automatically if airplane DC electrical power fails or is turned off.
How is the emergency lighting system powered?
The emergency lighting system is powered by remote batteries. Battery charge is provided by the airplane electrical system. A fully charged battery provides at least 15 minutes of operation.
How are the escape slide lights operated?
When a slide is deployed, the lights turn on automatically to illuminate the slide lanes.
When is the EICAS advisory message:
EMER LIGHTS displayed?
When the emergency lights switch is not in the armed position, or
when the emergency lights switch is in the armed position and the emergency lights are activated by the switch at a flight attendant panel.
Describe the AUTO function of the Fasten Seatbelt selector?
The fasten seatbelt signs illuminate when:
- landing gear not up and locked or
- flap lever not up, or
- airplane altitude below ...,or
- cabin altitude above 10,000 feet, or
- passenger oxygen or supernumerary oxygen ON.
Can the fasten seatbelt signs illuminate with the selector in OFF?
Yes, when the passenger or supernumerary oxygen is ON.
How are the no smoking signs controlled?
The no smoking signs are illuminated permanently and cannot be controlled by the no smoking selector, or the no smoking signs are illuminated permanently and the no smoking selector is not installed.
What are the three sources of oxygen on the 777?
Two independent oxygen systems are provided, one for the flight crew and one for the passengers. Portable oxygen cylinders are located throughout the airplane for emergency use.
Where is the passenger and flight crew oxygen quantity displayed?
Flight crew oxygen is displayed on the MFD STATUS display.
Passenger oxygen is provided through individual chemical oxygen generators.
Where can the minimum dispatch pressures for flight crew oxygen be found?
FCOM 1, Performance Dispatch, Enroute section.
Why is it important to ensure no significant drop of oxygen pressure on the MFD STATUS display is observed during the preflight oxygen test?
To ensure the flight crew system bottle shut off valve is open.
How is the oxygen mask microphone selected?
By squeezing the red mask release levers and pulling the mask from its panel.
How can the boom microphone be reselected after use of oxygen masks is no longer required?
By closing the left oxygen panel door and pushing and releasing the RESET/TEST switch. This also shuts of oxygen to the mask.
How could a thermal discharge of the flight crew oxygen system be detected?
During exterior inspection on the left fwd lower fuselage, the green pressure relief disc would be missing.
How many minutes of oxygen can be produced by the chemical generators?
Approximately 22 minutes.
At what cabin altitude do the passenger oxygen masks drop automatically from the PSU's?
When cabin altitude exceeds approximately 13,500 ft.
How can passenger masks manually be deployed?
By pushing the PASSENGER OXYGEN switch on the overhead panel to the ON position.
Is the overhead crew rest compartment oxygen supply part of the flight crew oxygen system?
No, the overhead crew rest compartments have their own chemical oxygen generators that deploy automatically when the cabin altitude exceeds approximately 13,500 ft.
Flight crew oxygen mask Emergency/Test selector: When would the selector be rotated to emergency?
The emergency position supplies 100% oxygen under positive pressure at all cabin altitudes and protects against smoke and harmful vapors.
Selecting the Evacuation COMMAND switch to ON has the following effects:
