RING STAND
Other pieces of equipment such as rings and utility clamps are attached to it.
RING CLAMP
It is attached to a ring stand and used to hold a wire gauze or clay triangle on which beakers, flasks, etc. are placed.
WIRE GAUZE
A heavy wire screen square, which is placed on a ring. Beakers, flasks, etc. are placed on the wire gauze. Bunsen burner is placed under the wire gauze to heat the contents on it.
BEAKER
Used to hold solid or liquid chemicals. Not an accurate measuring device.
ERLENMEYER FLASK
Used to hold liquid chemicals, especially those that need to be swirled. Not an accurate measuring device.
GRADUATED CYLINDER
It can be used to make ACCURATE measurements of the volume of liquids.
TEST TUBE
Used to hold solids, liquids, or gases (hint: it cannot stand on the table by itself).
TEST TUBE RACK
Used to hold test tubes.
TEST TUBE HOLDER
used for holding test tubes when heating or pouring items.
TONGS
used for picking up hot crucibles, and small evaporating dishes; for holding items in flame.
STIRRING ROD
Used to stir material in test tubes, beaker, dishes.
FUNNEL
Used to pour liquids into containers with small openings; filter paper can be placed in it to filter substances
MORTAR AND PESTLE
Used to grind and crush substances to very small pieces or to a powder.
BUNSEN BURNER
Gas and air are mixed in it and then burned to produce a flame.
THERMOMETER
used to measure temperature.
BALANCE
Used to measure mass. Mass is the amount of matter in something.
HOT PLATE
Used to heat materials
BURET
used for dispensing small and precise amounts of liquids
CLAY TRIANGLE
Placed on ring. Used to support evaporating dish, crucible, etc.
CRUCIBLE
used to heat up small volumes of chemicals
PLASTIC PIPETTE
used to draw-up and dispense small amounts of liquids
EVAPORATING DISH
used to evaporate off liquids and leave behind solids
SPATULA
Concave scoop used to dispense solids/powders.
TEST TUBE BRUSH
Small brush used to clean test tubes
UTILITY CLAMP
used to clamp test tubes/ erlenmeyer flasks to ring stand
VOLUMETRIC FLASK
used for measuring exact volumes of liquid to create a solution.
WASH BOTTLE
used to dispense distilled water when rinsing down the inside of a beaker or Erlenmeyer flask
WATCH GLASS
used to cover samples in an evaporating dish or as a sample plate
FILTER PAPER
used with a funnel to separate a solid from a liquid.
