Data Set
A collection of related data collected from a single source.
Model
A function which is used to represent a problem, and which can be used to solve the problem.
Zero Slope
This is the slope of a horizontal line. The line has no vertical change between each horizontal change.
Mean
This is the sum of all the results included in the sample, divided by the number of observations.
Trend
This is the relationship between two sets of data.
Correlation
In a set of data, if there is no clear pattern to the points when graphed on a coordinate plane, we say there is no relative __________.
Rate
The amount of increase or decrease in a function.
Line Graph
A graph that is represented by points connected by segments.
Tendency
These are statistics that describe the center of a distribution: mean, median, mode. The measure central ________.
Line
This is the straight path connecting two points and extending infinitely in both directions.
Interpolate
This is the process of predicting values for points which occur BETWEEN those given in a set of bivariate data.
Table
This is an arrangement of data, usually in rows and columns. It is called a __________.
Range
This is the difference between the maximum and the minimum value in a data set.
Extrapolate
To look at known values and make an estimation based on observations.
Data
When gathering information for research, we say we are collecting _________.
Extend
To continue a given pattern to a desired number of terms.
Y-Intercept
This is a point at which a graph intersects the y-axis.
Predict
This is what you do when you use information or data to make an informed guess about what will happen in the future.
Range
The output of a function or relation. The set of y-values that a graph is defined on.
Data
Numbers or facts that describe something. It can be numerical, counted, or descriptive.
Interquartile Range
The spread of the middle 50% of the data.
Frequency Plot
A graph used to characterize the frequency of measurements or summarize the distributions of a variable.
Mode
This is the most frequently occurring element in a set.
