As you go from domain to species, the taxons get less diverse because organisms are grouped by how similar they are.
How do you know if organisms are closely related?
Organisms are more similar or more closely related the more groups/taxons they have in common.
For example, Looking at the picture, the grizzly and black bear are more similar because they have more groups in common as compared to other animals on the chart. (they have 6 groups in common)
