Caste System (India)
(India) Determined by education, it was made up of the Brahmins (Priests), Khsatriyas (Warriors), Vaishyas (Merchants, Landowners), and the Shudras (Servants, Subordinate to Vaishyas, Khsatriyas, and Brahmins). The Untouchables were not considered as part of the caste system and often left with the labor jobs no other group wanted.
Untouchables vs. Brahmins (India)
The Untouchables are the lower than the lowest class in the caste system, whereas the Priests (Brahmins) were the highest and wealthiest Hindu class in the system. The government set aside jobs for the Untouchables, but this law is often not enforced.
A social, political, economic ideology, and movement whose ultimate goal is the establishment of the communist society. Socialism is the ideal mix between Communism and Capitalism in a Communist based country, but is hard to achieve.
An economy in which decisions regarding investment, production, and distribution are based on market determined supply and demand, and prices of goods and services are determined in a free price system.
India and Pakistan is more market based than Vietnam, but all three are moving towards a market-based economy.
Post-War Generation (Vietnam)
(Vietnam) People born after the Vietnam War (1975) that are in their 30's or early 40's and younger.
Vietnam's "Social Evils Prevention Department"
A department created by the Vietnamese government to prevent Western culture from corrupting their ideal youth culture.
Agrarian Society (Pakistan)
Any society whose economy is based on producing and maintaining crops and farmland. Can be classified by determining how much of a nation's total production is in agriculture.
Rural vs. Urban (Vietnam)
Rural areas are generally open and spread out land (country/ farm) whereas urban is a high population area for living and working purposes (city)
Jim Crow South (related to US)
A set of restrictions placed upon the blacks in the south to discriminate against them.
Jim Crow vs. Caste
Segregation and discrimination against the different types of social classes. The Jim Crow was targeted at the blacks of the south, whereas the caste system was used to separate the people by their social standard.
Barani (Punjab Province, Pakistan)
The British Empire took Barani and provided new jobs and better education to improve poverty, and Barani has benefitted ever since.
Influence of British Empire in Pakistan
The British Empire influenced Pakistan in many different ways. In some areas it helped (Barani) but in most it only caused poverty.
The basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (i.e., buildings, roads, and power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.
Pakistan's policy on improving agricultural development
Pakistan is not directly improving the agricultural development by providing different jobs and education.
Class System in India
Caste System, determined by who your family is, once you are born into the caste system, you can not leave your sector.
Class System in Pakistan
Land or no land. If you owned land, you would be higher up in the class system, whereas if you did not own land, you will be living in poverty or on the land owners land. The land owners makes up 6% of the total population. The difference between the upper and lower class is significant due to the drastic difference in population.
Class System in Vietnam
Pre-War Generation (old) and Post-War Generation (young).
The Post-War Generation grew up in a world where they were exposed to Capitalist ideas, where the Pre-War Generation grew up in a strict Communist country resulting in a huge divide between the two generations.
Natural Resources in India
The untouchables were given the labor jobs the way they harvested and manufactured the natural resources would be non-environment friendly, because they do not have access to education to acquire the needed skills. This will result in a waste of natural resources.
Natural Resources in Pakistan
Without access to proper education, they do not have the right skills to safely harvest and manufacture their natural resources, eventually causing harm to their environment. This will result in a waste of natural resources.
Resources in Vietnam
The youth of Vietnam were exposed the capitalist ideas, causing them to stray from the Communist ideas that the government enforces. Causing the government to be unable to use them to enforce their Communist ideology. This results in the youth wanting to leave Vietnam and the economy will eventually fall.
