Ten years of economic depression followed by shortages caused by WW2 had created pent-up emotions, financial reserves, demands for consumer goods, and domestic frustration
People now had money to spend, products to buy, and more leisure time
The idea of the dream comes from the Declaration of Independence, which proclaims that "all men are created equal with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Age of prosperity, Americans moved into suburban homes, etc...
