a finished edge on the inside of garments.
Flat catch stitch
a large cross-stitch used in finishing seams and in hemming.
Blind catch stitch
same stitch as the catch stitch used for flat hemming except that it is done between the hem and the garment. This stitch is more secure than the blind stitch, and is particularly good for heavy fabrics.
A row of machine stitching parallel to the seamline to keep facings from rolling to the outside.
Also known as tacking, used to temporarily hold together two or more fabric layers during both fitting and construction.
A piece of fabric that is used to finish the unhemmed or unfinished edges of a garment.
Bound button hole-
Buttonhole with edges finished with fabric rather than stitching.

Machine button holes

is perpendicular to the lengthwise grain.

you sew with interchangeable foot. That is how you sew zippers.
Stitch selector dial
changes the width of the stitches.

To go backwards and secure the stitch and hold down halfway to change the length of the stitch.

Shapes of darts
French darts- extends diagonally from the side seam in the hip area to the bust.
Contour dart- a long, single dart that fits the waistline and then tapers off in two opposite directions to fit either both the bust and hip.
continuous dart- thread dart is one that is stitched in a way that leaves no thread ends to be tied at the point.
Makes the thread tighter or loser
This stitch is used to join two finished edges or to attach an unfinished edge to a straight edge or flat surface.
the usual hand stitch for finishing raw edges to prevent them from fraying.
blind hemming stitch
the same stitch as the catch stitch used for flat hemming except that it is done between the hem and the garment.
blind catch stitch
is a quick and easy stitch that can be used on any blind hem.
Is the paper that has the numbers and letters all over it. It is used for pattern making.
