Form of government which political authority excercises absolute and centralized control over all aspects of life.
Fascism
Polictical philosophy that advocates aggressive nationalism, single-party system with strong ruler.
Politburo
.A seven member committee that became the leading policy- making body of the Communist Party in Russia.
Reichstag
The German Parliament.
Appeasement
Satisfying demands of dissatisfied powers to maintain peace and stability.
Sanction
Restrictions intended to enforce international law.
Blitzkrieg
German for "Lighting War" a swift and sudden military attack; used by the Germans during WWII.
Genocide
The deliberate mass murder of a particular racial, Political, or Cultural group.
Collaborator
People who assisted the enemy.
Kamikaze
Japanese pilots in suicide missions; "divine wind."
The Resistance
Those in Nazi-controlled areas that worked against Nazis.
RAF
British air force.
Luftwaffe
German air force.
Blitz
The name for the German air raid on British cities and towns. Particularly London.
Afrika Korps
German forces under General Erwin Rommel, broke through the British defense in Egypt and advanced toward Alexandria.
Island Hopping
Policy of one of the two operation in the pacific to capture some Japanese-held islands and bypass others
Embargo
Any legal restriction of commerce. (Government order)
Ghetto
A section of some European cities to which Jews were restricted.
Regime
A specific government, management, or order.
Theater
A place that is the scene of action.
