Reverb
Makes it sound like you're now hearing that sound in a Church or hall or other ambient space (e.g. a toilet)
Delay
the sound repeats over and over as it fades out. The sound is stored and played back at a later time.
Chorus
Adds thickness by duplicating the sound and adding a slight changes in pitch. Simulates two or more singers.
Echo
Sound repeats quickly as if it is reflected off a hard surface. Like in the Grand Canyon. The word is often used instead of reverb or delay.
Flanger
Sweeping, whooshing sound
Distortion
Crunchy, fuzzy sound. Overdriven
Compression
Stops sound getting too loud. Reduces peaks in volume
Gate
Opens when sound plays. Shuts to cut out unwanted noise in between sounds
