Algorithm
A step-by-step solution.
Difference
The result of subtracting one number from another.
Distributive Property
The sum of two addends multiplied by a number equals the sum of the product of each addend and that number.
Dividend
The amount that you want to divide up.
Divisor
The number you divide by
Factor
A number that when multiplied with another produces a given number
Greatest Common Factor
The highest number that divides exactly into two or more numbers.
Least Common Multiple
The smallest positive number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.
Measurement Model of Division
When we know the original amount and the size or measure of ONE part, we use measurement division to find the number of parts.
Minuend
The first number in a subtraction. The number from which another number is to be subtracted.
Multiple
The result of multiplying a number by an integer
Quotient
The answer after you divide one number by another
Partitive Model of Division:
Is one where you know the total number of groups,and you are trying to find the number of items in each group.
Reciprocal
Two numbers whose product is 1. The reciprocal of a fraction can be found by inverting that fraction
Sum
The result of adding two or more numbers.
Subtrahend
The number that is to be subtracted. The second number in a subtraction.
Product
The answer when two or more numbers are multiplied together.
