FROST SHATTERING
As water seeps into rock fractures and joints, it freezes into ice crystals, expands, and splits rocks apart forming jagged edges and pointy boulders.
THERMAL EXPANSION
Rocks with crystals expand and contract when heated and cooled. Overtime, exposed rocks weaken and disintegrate, forming jagged carpet of rocks over desert surface.
EXFOLIATION
Rock disintegration of overlaying rocks to expose intrusive igneous rocks (granite), formed under high pressure in earths interior. (Pressure release)
PLANTS AND ANIMALS
Burrowing, roots growing roots widen and split apart rock from gradual pressure
