refers to everything that goes on or happens in a story
Is the hero/heroine of the story
Is the person or thing fighting against the hero in a story; The villain or "negative force"
Is a person or animal in a story
Is the time and place of the story

The action is usually made up of series of events

A character has a problem with some element of nature: a snow, an avalanche, a wild animal
Person vs. Universe
A character has to battle what seems to be an uncontrollable problem

Person vs. Self
A character struggles inside and has trouble deciding what to do
Point of View
Is the perspective from which the story is told. This depends on who is telling the story.
first-person point of view
One of the characters tells the story using the word "I"
third-person point of view
Someone outside is telling the story. The author is not always telling the story
Third person point of view which allows the narrator to relate the thoughts and feelings of all the characters
Allows the narrator to relate the thoughts and feelings of only one character.
Is the person or character who is telling the story
Refers to the conversation that goes on between characters in a story
Is the author's mood or feeling about a piece of writing
Is the central message or main idea that is written about or discussed
Is the feeling(s) a reader gets from a story: happy, sad, peaceful
Is when you expect something to happen, but the opposite happens instead.
The use of clues to suggest what is going to occur in a story
Technique to tell the reader about something that happened earlier
