Database

Document Management System
The ability to save, share, search, and audit electronic documents throughout their life cycle.
Field
A single piece of information in a record in a database.
Gantt Chart
A chart used in a project management to show a project schedule.
Office Application Suite
A suite of productivity applications such as a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation program, database, and personal information manager integrated into a single package.
Personal Information Manager
A program used to manage e-mail, calendar and tasks and is often part of an office suite.
Project Management Software
An application designed to help you to complete projects, keep within your budget, stay on schedule and collaborate with others.
Record
A row of data in a database table that describes a particular entry in the database.
Spreadsheet
An Application that creates electronic worksheets composed of rows and columns.
Word Processor
An application that is used ti create, edit, and format text documents. can also contain images.
WYSIWYG
The layout on the computer screen shows the document layout as it would appear when it is printed.
Open Source
Software that has its source code published and made available to the public, enabling anyone to copy, modify and redistribute it without paying fees.
Portable Apps
Application software that can be run from a flash drive.
System requirements
The minimum hardware and software specifications required to run a software application.
Windows Experience Index
A rating system that assesses the operating system version, processor type and speed and amount of memory installed as well as your video card performance to determine the types of software that your computer can run.
Donationware
A form of freeware where the developers accept donations, either for themselves or for a nonprofit-organization.
EULA (end-user license agreement)
License agreement between the software user and the software publisher.
Freeware
Software that can be used at no cost for an unlimited period of time.
Retail Software
The user pays a fee to use the software an unlimited period of time.
Shareware
Software offered in trial form or for a limited period that allows the user to try it out before purchasing a license.
Cloud Computing
Moves the processing and storage off your desktop and business hardware and puts it in the cloud- on the internet.
Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)
Part of cloud computing; the use of internet-based users.
Platform-as-a-Service(PaaS)
Part of cloud computing; online programming environment used to develop, test and deploy custom applications.
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
Part of cloud computing; Delivers applications over the internet.
