whole number
A number that is not negative and not a fraction

The distance a number is from zero on a number line
negative number
Any number that has a minus sign (-) and is smaller than zero
positive number
A number that is greater than zero.
Two integers that are the same distance away from zero, but on opposite sides of the number line.

Used to compare two numbers when the first number is smaller than the second number.

a straight line, going to infinity in both positive and negative directions from zero
