Invites the character (initiate) to adventure. It offers him/her the chance to face the unknown to gain some sort of value. They may accept willingly or be dragged into it.
The jumping off point for the adventure. It's between the known and the unknown. Once they cross the threshold, he/she enters an unknown world.
This is the beginning of the journey into the unknown. Challenges become more difficult to overcome. This begins the process of transformation.
The greatest challenge of the journey. He/ she can't continue without facing this challenge. This is usually faced alone
When the initiate conquers his/her fears.
It is a moment of rebirth...ie. fear must die to make way for courage.
The initiate has a sudden dramatic change in the way he/she thinks or views life. It makes the initiate a different person.
The initiate becomes "at-one" with his/ her new self. The initiate receives or becomes aware of a "boon" or gift which is based on a new skill or awareness.
Return to the initiate's every day life. Sometimes the hero sacrifices "heaven" to teach others in the world.
