Beta2-Adrenergic Agonists MOA:
Bronchodilator of bronchial smooth muscle
Contraindicated in clients with tachydysrhythmia.
Beta2-agonists and Beta2-antagonists cancel each other out.
-Assess heart rate before treatment or else pt experiences dysrhythmias.
-If pt has chest pain, stop medication.
-Pt w/ asthma, need to give back-to-back meds.
-Ensure clients know appropriate dosage schedule.
-After breathing treatment, encourage mouthwash.
-For fungal infection, treat with Nystatin.
-Educate pt how to use spacers, nebulizers.
-Assess respirations, lung sounds, pulse ox, BP, HR, peak flow, ABGs.
*In ER situations, nurses can give breathing treatments or if RT not available.
