The American Civil War

The Confederate Army
War, was the pro-slavery army that fought for the states of the south in the Civil War, they wore gray uniform. Soldiers were mainly from Virginia. Led by General Lee.
The Emancipation Proclamation
Issued by Abraham Lincoln on September 22, 1862 it declared that all slaves in the confederate states would be free.
United States abolitionist born a slave on a plantation in Maryland and became a famous conductor on the Underground Railroad leading other slaves to freedom in the North

Historical accounts of the daily lives of slaves as written by the slaves themselves after gaining freedom, -share personal experience. Famous narratives: Harriet Jacobs, Fredrick Douglas, Sojourner Truth.
