drama
A story that is intended to be performed by actors.
play
A drama that is meant to be performed on a stage.
playwright
The author of a play.
script
A text that has everything needed to perform a drama, including dialogue and stage directions.
act
Plays are often divided into a few main units called ________. Each one consists of 2 or more scenes.
scene
A small section of a play. Each one usually takes place in a specific time and place.
cast of characters
A list that names all the characters in the drama and states how they are related to each other.
stage directions
Specific instructions from the playwright about scenery, costumes, how the actors should act, etc.
dialogue
The conversation between two or more characters in a drama.
monologue
Words spoken by one of the characters when they are alone, or are only talking to themselves or the audience.
plot
The action or main events in a drama.
theme
The main idea or statement the playwright or author is trying to make.
tragedy
A serious drama that has an unhappy ending.
comedy
A drama that is often funny and has a happy ending.
