what are ribosomes?
a cell organeele composed of RNA and protein; the site of protein synthesis
what is the structure of it?
are composed of two different sub units. both are composed of rRNA and protein.
what is the chemical composition?
consists of two major components; small ribosomal subunit-which reads the RNA and the large subunit which joins amino acids to form polypeptide chain. each subunit is composed of one or more ribosomal RNA(rRNA) molecules and a variety of ribosomal proteins.
what is the function of it?
are a cell structure that makes protein. protein is needed for cell functions such as repairing damage or direct chemical processes. ribosomes can be found floating within the cytoplasm or attached to the endoplasmic reticulum.
what is it made of?
ribosomes is made from complexes of RNAs and proteins and therefore is a ribonucleoprotein. each is divided into two subunit 1. a smaller subunit which binds into a lareger subunit and the mRNA pattern and 2. the amino acids and the smaller subunit.
what would happen if it stopped working?
it wouldn be able to produce proteins for the other cells. ribosomes are to create other proteins for cells. so if the cell didnt have ribosomes they wouldnt be able to produce protein for other cells. it woukld cause the cells to stop working. if there were no ribosomes in the cell then there would be no MRNA.
what are RNA?
a ribonucleic acid, a natural polymer that is present in all living cells and that plays a role in protein synthesis.
bacteria?prokaryotic animal and plant cells eukaryotic.
messenger RNA, a single stranded RNA molecule that encodes the information to make a protein.
