Linear Regression

Positive Correlation
A correlation that exists when one variable increases while the other increases.
Negative Correlation
A relationship between two variables in which one variable increases as the other decreases.
No Correlation
When two sets of data are are not linked together in any way.
Scatter Plot
Points plotted on horizontal and vertical axes to plot data points.
Line of Fit
A straight line that best represents the data on a scatter plot. This line may pass through some of the points, none of the points, or all of the points.
Correlation Coefficient
a number between −1 and +1 calculated so as to represent the linear dependence of two variables or sets of data.
Linear Regression
You perform this regression on Desmos when scatterplot looks like a line.
y value when x equals 0
meaning of slope
change in the y variable with per change in the x variable
predict a value within the scope of the data
predict a value outside the scope of the data
A correlation that results from one variable causing the other.
y1~mx1 + b
What we type into Desmos to find the linear regression
