the smallest living part of a plant or animal
a thin wall that encloses the entire cell. It allows food to enter the cell and waste to leave. It helps to give the cell shape and is slightly protective.
the tough and rigid outer wall that surrounds the cell membrane in plants. It gives stiffness to plants as they grow.
the control center of the cell. It tells the cell what to do and regulates cell growth.
organelles found only in plant cells. Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll that uses energy from sunlight to help produce (make) its own food.
a group of similar cells that work together. Examples: muscles
a group of similar tissues that does a specific job in the body. Examples: heart, lungs, stomach
