New England Colonies:
Colonies: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire
Land: generally thin, stony soil, little level land
Climate: Long winters making farming difficult
Economy: didn't have great soil, relied on fishing, ship building, trading, and green and saw mills

Climate: excellent growing climate made the southern colonies most popular region for agriculture, dense forests
Economy: agriculture, lumber (wood from forests), and ship building
Diversity of the people: very diverse, had German, Irish, and Scottish immigrants
