Adding Keyboard Shortcuts

Project scope: The work performed to deliver a product, service, or result with the specified features and functions

Project schedule: A schedule model that presents linked activities with planned dates, durations, milestones, and resources
A project schedule includes
a planned start date and planned finish date for each activity.
To develop a project schedule:

PROJECT COSTS AND RESOURCE ALLOCATION

UNDERSTANDING PROJECT PHASES

PLANNING AND ANALYSIS PHASE
Without a good plan, it's hard to know how to reach your goal. Planning involves analysis—not just how to get from point A to point B, but figuring out the best way to get there.
Project management concepts apply to all industries, so the design phase isn't just about graphic design. For a design project, the goal of this phase might be client signoff on the project's design.
BUILDING AND TESTING PHASES
During building, all elements of the project are produced according to the project schedule.
PROOFING AND REVISING PHASE
The proofing and revising phase begins when the client is shown the full project design. Clients will frequently change their minds after they have a chance to see everything in place. It is common to spend more time revising copy than designing (unfortunately!).
IMPLEMENTATION OR PUBLISHING PHASE
The implementation or publishing phase begins when all the building and testing is done and the client has signed off on the final design of the product.
Some projects might also contain a maintenance phase. For example, in a digital publishing project there might be an ongoing change of ad placements based on analytical data gathered on the use of applications.
SCOPE CREEP AND METHODS MISMATCH
Two common problems in project management are scope creep and mismatch of methods and approach to the project or the client.

CLIENT COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Planning and analysis phase: At the initial client meeting, you learn the client's business, purpose, audience, and audience needs.Design phase and building and testing phase: At milestones, you get client feedback on your designs and clear up any misunderstandings.Proofing and revising phase: Show your client the full design in place so they can request minor design tweaks and copy changes.Implementation or publishing phase: You and your client do final checks, and the client signs off on the project.Maintenance phase: Ongoing maintenance is part of some projects.
CLIENT COMMUNICATION METHODS
Listen: Your client knows his or her business and customers best.Ask clarifying questions: If you don't fully understand an important client statement, ask for clarification.Paraphrase: Restate the client's statements in your own words ("So we have the same understanding, you said you prefer the images in design A and the color scheme in design B, is that right?").
ASK PEERS AND CLIENTS FOR FEEDBACK

For works created anonymously or pseudonymously, or works made for hire, either 95 years from the year of first publication or 120 years from its creation
The copyright owner of a copyrighted work, such as a photo, must give permission before you can use the work in your graphic designs. Contact the copyright owner to obtain this permission. If no permission is granted, do not use the materials
A student using a copyrighted image for nonprofit educational purposes. Because the use is purely educational and does not affect the work's commercial value, this use is likely OK.
UNDERSTAND CREATIVE COMMONS
Creative Commons is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to "develop, support, and steward legal and technical infrastructure that maximizes digital creativity, sharing, and innovation."
IDENTIFY CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSES
Attribution-NoDerivs (CC BY-ND): commercial and noncommercial redistribution is allowed, as long as the work is used unchanged and in its entirety, with acknowledgment of the copyright owner.
IDENTIFY ROYALTY-FREE IMAGES
In some cases your client won't provide you with all the images or illustrations required to design and produce the requested publication. Apart from looking for materials made available under a Creative Commons license, you can use royalty-free digital content for your designs.
UNDERSTAND PUBLIC DOMAIN
Works that exist in the public domain are free to use without copyright restrictions; for example, a graphic work for which the copyright has expired.

METADATA PANEL IN ADOBE BRIDGE
Adobe Bridge is an application that is available for download and installation with your Creative Cloud membership. The Metadata panel in Adobe Bridge displays copyright information for selected files, such as a photo or InDesign file.

You can view, edit, and add copyright information in InDesign files using the File Info dialog in InDesign.
ADD COPYRIGHT INFORMATION IN INDESIGN
Information entered into the File Information dialog box stays with the InDesign document. It's also included when the document is exported to other formats such as PDF and EPUB.

The person who translates an idea into a creative work is the automatic copyright owner. The work is considered the artist's intellectual property.
Sell copies of the work.
The copyright owner of a copyrighted work, such as a photo, must give permission before you can use the work in your graphic designs. Contact the copyright owner to obtain this permission. If no permission is granted, do not use the materials.
Fair use of copyrighted
The use of a copyrighted photo to promote a free public event. "Event" is not listed under fair use of copyrighted materials, and use of the photo could negatively impact the commercial value of the work. Public use, even when it's for a good cause, is most likely not OK.
