Absolute Value
The distance of a number from zero on the number line. Always positive.
Algebraic Expression
A combination of variables, numbers, and at least one operation
Base
The number that is raised to a power
Coefficient
The number by which a variable is multiplied. Ex: the 2 in 2x
Coordinate Plane
This is formed when two number lines intersect at their zero points
Distributive Property
a(b +c) = ab + ac
Exponent
The number that tells how many factors there are of the base.
Greater Than
The inequality symbol >
Inequality
A mathematical sentence that compares two unequal expressions using one of the symbols <, >, ≤, ≥, or ≠.
