The bonds that hold society together create a feeling of belonging and a willingness toabide by the shared norms and values.

Every institution has a positive contribution to make to the maintenace of social order and stability.
Society has basic needs that have to be met if society is to survive e.g. a means of allocating roles, a means of integrating individuals.
When an institution fails to function effectively it may disrpt the whole.
Society is characterised by value consensus, balance and harmony, indivudals are integrated and regulated.
